Everything you said was wrong. Everything.
1. The overton window was coined by Joseph P. Overton to describ the spectrum of acceptable discourse in a general population. There's nothing cynical about it like you imply. Also, George Orwell was already dead for 10 years before Overton was even born.
2. Are you seriously trying to convince me that the Overton Window in the US is to the left? Oh please. The only countries that ban abortion in the world are countries in Central America, South America, Africa, and Southeast Asia. Not exactly the most prosperous nations in the world. Also, how is LGBTQ people and out-of-wedlock births a) wrong, and b) socialist? Non sequiter if you ask me. And your thing about the media being controlled by democrats, trust me, they hate Bernie Sanders just as much, if not even more than they hate Trump. Chuck Todd and Chris Matthews are great examples. I genuinely believe Fox news is more fair to Bernie than CNN and MSNBC are. CNN and MSNBC are neoliberal outlets, not socialist ones.
3. On the contrary, I can provide plently of examples of how the Overton Window has undeniably shifted to the right in the US following the Red Scare. Our entire government is controlled by republicans or neoliberals, which ideologically are both right wing, we're the only developed country in the world not to guarantee healthcare or maternal leave, among othe things, and milquetoast moderate ideologies like social democracy are ridiculed as Marxism from people like you. If you're still not convinced, just search up the political compass for the 2020 presidential candidates. Almost everyone is on the right wing authoritarian side. Of course, it's not perfect, but it does paint a general picture of where the discourse is in the US.
4. Piggybacking from my previous point, do I really have to explain to you how social democracy and marxism are two completely different ideologies? Hint hint, one advocates for the abolishment of capitalism, the other does not.
