I agree, it has been really BAD, TellMeWhy. I choose to be optimistic and hope for a more positive outcome next year.

I do not have that gift to be optimistic. Finally my pessimistic self was expect a horrible year, and look what we got! You are very lucky that you have the power to be optimistic.

Yes, it does make it easier to be optimistic. I am happy 95% of the time and the 5% I am thinking about liberals and what they have done to destroy our country. I shouldn't follow the news as much as I do but I didn't do it when I was younger, so am catching up, TellMe. My husband is more of a pessimist so I balance him out as he does me.

It does, which is why you are ever so extremely lucky to be able to be optimistic. Wish I could be optimistic. As for my emotional status, I am depressed 100% of the time (I have signs that all point to clinical depression, which is VERY horrible). 5% of the time I think about what Trump has done to destroy the country. 5% of the time I think of how Biden destroyed the nation. 5% of the time I think about all the other idiotic politicians, Democrat and Republican, and how they have divided us.

I probably should not keep up with the news either (both Trump's FAKE NEWS and Biden's FAKE NEWS) because it fuels my hatred for a lot of people, from Trump to Biden to Alex Jones to Derek Chauvin to Kenneth Copland to Kim Jong-un to Vladimir Putin to Brett Kavanaugh to Xi Jingping, and the list goes on. Really just proves how we'll screw ourselves over in a couple hundred years.

What sucks even more? BEING A KID AND KNOWING THIS. It sucks because I can only talk with adults who use the logical fallacy known as Ad Hominem (to the person in Latin) to poke holes in my arguments, citing my age and acting like Trump has done nothing wrong and that all Democrats are filthy liars who deserve to die in some scummy hole. That sucks. Can't talk about it to any of my peers either, because they don't understand this terrible world yet.

I actually interact with a lot of people who feel as you do, TellMe, as I am Admin of a conservative group online. I try to get them to come over to our side, lol. I am very pro-Trump and I will add that my husband is as well. He is the smartest man I have ever met...well-rounded and brilliant. I credit him for making me a strong conservative. These values are vital to making the world "sane" in the midst of all of the liberal "confusion" and there is a ton of it!

So, I am a biased person and should recuse myself from the task at hand. But, the mother in me wants to make you feel better and help you achieve happiness. You are obviously a very smart young man (and please tell me if I am assuming your gender). You are stuck in the middle of the road and that usually results in "road kill", lol! I feel quite comfortable in embracing the "right" side of life. You don't catch us out rioting in the streets as our protests are not generally violent as they can be on the left. There is hypocrisy on both sides but seriously WAY LESS on our side!

Yes, you are not the typical young person who 'doesn't follow' the news. That is great because you are so much further evolved than your peer group. You are for the truth and IMO will not find it until you pick a side. Perfection in life is not a goal as none of us are perfect, TellMe, but conservatives can be happy people; contrast them to the whining, undisciplined, confused and seemingly "oppressed" left. Are your parents liberals or conservatives?

My father is a Democrat, yes, and I can describe him the same way as you describe your husband. Well-rounded, IQ of 140-150, and very great person. Me? Not so much. I boil with so much hate for a very broad group of people. Trump, Biden, Alex Jones, CNN, Fox News, MSNBC, OANN. I could go on for the entire character limit of a comment. Let's just say that both Trump and Biden have similarities that I do NOT appreciate.

Basically, I have much hate for a lot of the people in the world. Nothing is good, and everything can go bad. That is what I have gathered from this existence. You are right that perfection is never a goal in life, as it is unobtainable, and those who try have a lot to learn. Neither side would like me, as I am not after power, but the truth.

Being perfectly hones? I hate my existence. I really don't want anyone to end up like I am, hated by both sides because of my beliefs. What most people don't realize is that it takes both sides to destroy our country. You need a Trump, old white guy with sexual assault allegations and a quid pro quo on his resume, and a Biden, old white guy with a sexual assault allegation and a quid pro quo on his resume, to clash in the battle that does not end well for our nation despite who comes out the victor.

Most people also don't get that this isn't "HATE" or "FAKE NEWS", it is just logical reasoning backed up with evidence and facts. Most Reps aren't willing to look at Trump's wrongdoings, and most Dems aren't willing to look at Biden's faults. Simple as that. Almost all of the people in the politics stream certainly aren't looking at what Trump has done wrong, and almost all the people in the politicsTOO stream have no will to look at Biden's faults. They portray their opinions as facts, and that is what blinds them from an obvious truth.

I wish you and those you care about well.

I wrote a long comment and managed to close the window...darn! Too tired to duplicate it so in short, please tell me if your depression is caused by politics, possibly an imbalance in hormones, or directly related to a relationship in your life? Hate is a bad thing and it is something that needs to go away in order for you to be happy. Can you give me some insight as to why you think you feel that way?

I wake up happy every day and go to bed the same way. Somehow my normal hormones are perfectly set so I just am just happy to be here. I have great people in my life and I am sure you do, too. How old are you? We have a son who is 38. I would love to see you feel more like I do and less pessimistic. I know I won't convert you to liking Trump, lol, so that will not be a goal. But I would like to help you feel better.

To be honest, BLM and its legitimate supporters send a good message, but the vast majority of people use their slogan as an excuse to riot and loot, which disgusts me. They are not on Trump's side or Biden's side. They're just losers that want to screw over America sooner than later. Some people say that they are good people inside. Not me.

My parents? They already know that I am not a child. They give me a lot of freedoms because of a supposed intellect. I already go to a Highly Gifted school (which is true) because I am higher intellect than most people my age (which is NOT true). As for what I enjoy, probably video gaming, unless I have a medical addiction to them, which is highly possible.

I WISH I could get a job. Then I could earn money and start helping financially. Unfortunately, because of my age and, well, LOCK DOWN, I can't get a job, which is highly sad for me. Perhaps then I could use that in political arguing when people come at me for my age. Boy, that would be fun!

What I really want to do is STOP putting a burden upon myself. But guess what? My "decency" comes over me, and I can't just stand back like everyone else. The really sad truth is that it is SO easy to be a horrible person, but extremely hard and depressing to be a good one for people like me. I can''t do anything. At least you get a vote.

I just wish that more people would take up my goal, younger or older. But nope. All alone, stuck in the middle, fighting for no reason. It angers me, allowing me to brew in hatred, and no matter what I try, it doesn't work.

As for friends? Wait, let me rephrase. As for a friend? I have one, highly gifted like me, but in other ways. Like math, science, stuff like that.

Well, depression is caused by a lot of things. Politics is one of them, yes, but it is caused by stress and anger issues. As for my age, thirteen. Young, but not too much.

I want people to think like I do, not depressed, hateful, and angry, but rather to try and find both good and bad in a president. While I certainly do not like Trump, any honest Democrat has to admit that he did help people in the steel industry with his tariffs. That was nice, and I HAVE to state that to be politically correct. But he also tried to get rid of protection for young immigrants and also unknowingly screwed workers in industries whose main material is steel with his tariffs, so that was NOT a smart move by him.

It is always about finding a balance between criticism and credit to the opposite side to show your legitimacy. Unfortunately, it seems that whatever I say in the politics stream is just dismissed as "a youth trying to lib brainwash us" or "LEFTIST BS" or whatever, even when I give Trump credit where it is due.

The fearful left often gives Trump too much criticism. The arrogant right gives Trump too much credit.

The fearful left gives Biden too much credit. The arrogant right gives Biden too much criticism.

The fearful left wants everything locked down, not seeing the consequences of the economy. The arrogant right wants everything open, not knowing the consequences of the spread of COVID.

Another thing? People think that this is HATE on Trump or Biden, when all I try to do is use logic and facts to construct a political argument. Whatever I say is just another Leftist or Rightist trying to brainwash you to hate and destroy America.

My goal whenever I speak to someone about politics is to make them see through my perspective. To imagine what it is to be powerless, not even having a vote to cast. To give credit where it is due. THAT is my ultimate goal, not to brainwash people into thinking what I think, but rather to give people knowledge of what it is like to be stuck in the middle.

And yes, I really do hate it when I write a long comment and close out. Almost did with this one, but I saved it just in time, lol.

Never ever would have thought you are only 13. Most of us didn't know a thing about politics at your age. There really isn't a whole lot you can do about the world situation right now so don't take on such a huge burden. Perhaps you can run for election when you get older as you certainly do have the ability to track the issues. For now, just accept the ridiculous situation we find ourselves in (i.e. CHAZ, BLM and the rioters/looters) and just don't forget whose side they are on. (NOT Trump's, lol!)

I really think that your age is a difficult one especially for males. You are not grown up with rights and privileges yet and it parallels the political world of which you are trying to make sense of as well. I think you will be getting more freedom to do things as your parents realize you are no longer a child. Just don't do anything silly and they will give you a longer leash which will improve your life.

You should immerse yourself in things you enjoy doing. If you skateboard, play guitar, do video gaming, whatever you enjoy, and try to do more of those things. As far as friends, it is probably difficult since you function at a more mature level than the average 13 y/o.

Always remember that people like to be around others who aren't Debbie Downers. I am not saying "fake it" but I am saying try to be positive and laugh as much as you can. You might get a job and enjoy that, TellMe. When I was your age, I worked in a bakery and walked to and from work. I loved it. If you like animals, you could perhaps volunteer some time doing that or walking neighbors' dogs. Just be a good kid and don't get in with the wrong crowd. It is better to be by yourself than to align with people who will negatively influence you.

Hopefully, when you are older, you will meet someone who has similar beliefs and interests and you can share and bond with them. For now, don't take life so seriously and ease up as the world is going to do whatever it is going to do with or without your approval or mine. Please confide in your parents and tell them what you think about and what bothers you. I am sure they want to know and will appreciate the fact that you trust them to help guide you along the way.
