And even if it were to be taken care of quickly, there is a lot of division politically especially in our country right now that runs deeper then just this. Every single crisis had been turned into a political debate, and it's going to spark something not many people want to see.

No, the South seceded over the issue of state's rights. The North fought them because of the slavery issue.

No, it wasn't over states' rights. The Confederate Constitution had a clause which forbade any individual state from abolishing slavery.
