My little sister refused to use the bathroom. The car started overheating and we had to figure out how to get it to stop. We were all frustrated, tired, and a bit dehydrated. So it made sense when an hour or so later we discovered that we were on the wrong road. We were on 80 when we should have been on 90. As we pulled over to figure out where we went wrong, a kindly police officer came and told us how to get to 90. He was patient and told us exactly where we needed to go.
When we focus on our circumstances, we get just as distracted. Just like Peter started to sink when he took his eyes off of the Way and focused on his circumstances, we start to drift when we take our eyes off of Jesus, the one path and focus on our circumstances. Just like we did when we went wrong.
But. God. He wants us to be with Him. He w=meets us where we are at, even if it’s a hundred miles away from where we are supposed to be. He makes a way for us to get back on track.
We ended up making it to where we were supposed to be, but we lost about three hours of time. All because of focusing on what was around us rather than ahead of us. Rather than focusing on Who is in control, a lot of people, myself included, tend to focus on what is around us.
