i don't think the press is any more non-objective lately than at most times in the last 50 years. you have noticed, I guess, a particularly strong anti-Trump theme in the popular media over the last four years, and you naturally want to attribute that to dark motives. the alternative is to think that they're reacting correspondingly strongly to all of Trump's detestable words and behavior.
a lot of reporters get into the business because they're idealistic about telling the truth and fighting for justice. so Trump is exactly the sort of fellow who will raise their hackles.
the media are run as businesses because they are, so bottom line is going to be key. but make no mistake, Trump is a danger to the country and the world, so they'd love to kick his ass out.
