also you are gay, homo means the same sexual means relating to the instincts, physiological processes, and activities connected with physical attraction or intimate physical contact between individuals so it basically means you are attracted to the same gender meaning that you a so called lesbian are gay.
the word gay has a lot of meanings so do most words just because someone says gay doesn't mean their talking about homosexuals, it can mean happy or any other of the definitions it has but in slang it means lame.

educate yourself, also all kinds of words have bad history doesn't mean we shouldn't use them, of course this does in my opinion stop at slurs all of them, although i don't think we should censor anyone the person can and will face societal backlash for using slurs and that's completely warranted.
