You’d just have to forget that it was an Islamist terrorist group that killed nearly 3,000 people with only 2 planes, and America is willing to go to war for something like that. America spent more than 10 years to find the man responsible. Ever hear of Pearl Harbor? America was willing to go to war over an attack that killed roughly 2,400 people. Nothing changed there.

You’d also have to forget that it was one white cop that killed one black citizen. No matter how “in the wrong” the police officer is, Americans have no reason to go to “war” over something like this. And to top it off, the people of Minneapolis aren’t even rioting for the dead man.

Also, America invaded Afghanistan after 9/11, not Iraq. Nice try. Iraqi was was a different thing. Afghanistan was covering up for Osama Bin Laden, refused to work with the US government, and neglected to turn Bin Laden in.

This is not about war. The message is that when a group of people is attacked, they lash out in anger. Too many white people are only focusing on the riots and not the original problem - police killing blacks with no consequences. This sends a message to the black community that their cause is not important.

While I do believe that police brutality is an issue that needs to be addressed, the way the rioters are protesting also needs to addressed. Burning businesses and looting stores that had nothing to do with Floyd’s death only exacerbates the tensions between the black community and the police. There are others ways of addressing unnecessary violence without doing unnecessary violence. Two wrongs don’t make a right.

Yeah, I think we all agree with that. Even the people doing that will look back someday with regret. But again, I’m white. I’m not seeing people who look like me get killed by those who are supposed to protect them. So my focus is on listening to them and understanding their struggle. How can we help?

The cause is important, but people are using the cause as an excuse to... loot Target?

9/11 was a direct attack against America. America went to war with its attackers. That’s a country’s government reacting, not citizens.

The Minneapolis man being shot was an attack against a person, and is a crime. The cop shouldn’t have done that. But that doesn’t justify the riots attacking people and businesses.

You have the freedom to protest and petition in this great country, not burn down buildings.

They should also have the freedom to not be killed by the police, but they don’t.

Ok. So I think what you mean is that even though the effect might not necessarily be right, people should examine the underlying cause.

Exactly. Also may help some empathize with the black community.
