Isn't jail supposed to be the ultimate in social distancing?

I got this one.

After doing a little research, not like advanced research but just surface level google search...

What happened was that prisons were going under lockdown procedures and they were worried that those who were soon to be released in the coming months would have to stay in prison longer than their sentences required. So, rather than keeping them longer and risk the government being sued for cruel and unusual punishment, the opted to release the prisoners who were already scheduled to be released the next few months under parole.

Does that clear things up for you?

How sweet to condescendingly mistake me for someone who needs things to be cleared up. So, who do you think will end up getting sued for crime like this one - murder committed a day after the guy was released because of Coronavirus concerns? (Not he's the only one, there are many sadly similar incidents)

So, you'd rather a group of people serve longer than the time they were suppose to than have a handful of them will go back to their life of crime or worse? Which is what they would do even if they were released sooner or later. Sounds more like a commentary on our reform system rather than whether or not we should release people early but I get what you mean.

To answer your question, no, I would not rather see anyone serve longer than they were supposed. Claiming otherwise is not only deflection, it's revealing deflection .

Yes, I thought you being deflective toward my clarification was quite revealing but you really shouldn't beat yourself up over it. It's easier to be less outraged when you consider why people do things instead of just being angry about them being done.
