"Grow a set, Republicans."

And...defend violent racist imagery because hey, at least they're opposing the same people? What the hell is wrong with you?

Racist? Try again dumbass. You do realize that hanging tyrants in effigy goes back to our colonial days, don't you? This is a picture of an effigy of Kentucky governor Andy Beshear being hung. He's white, and his effigy was hung by white men. See that sign on his chest? Stick that in your googler for a clue why they did it.

Ah, my bad. Didn’t see Beshear’s face in the picture. I’m used to seeing Obama in these types of displays.

So not racist, just violent and antiquated. We don’t hang criminals anymore, and the practice is illegal everywhere except NH (weirdly enough).

Interesting that it would be racist if it were a half black guy. Are you saying that hanging a black guy because he's a tyrant is the same as hanging a black guy because he's black?

I’m saying hanging an effigy of a black guy is a reference to lynching, which is more prevalent in the modern psyche and has actually happened in modern American history.

It's not always a reference to lynching. That sounds like liberal white guilt to me. What if the black guy happened to be a tyrant? What if, for example, someone hung Robert Mugabe in effigy? Would you say that's racist?

In the US, it’s always a reference to lynching, for the reasons stated above.

"Always" is a strong word. Essentially, you're saying hanging a black guy = racism, but hanging a white guy = that's life. Sounds like you've swallowed the narrative.

Always is indeed a strong word. It’s also accurate.

Hanging an effigy of a white guy = a violent and antiquated political statement. Not racist, but also not appropriate.

For some reason, I can't reply to your last comment. Anyway, I did indeed say it's a disgusting thing, but if you were familiar with the situation, you might find it both appropriate and warranted. I did. What I found inappropriate was the droves of people on the right that ran for the hills apologizing all over themselves when this happened.

It depends on the situation, and in this instance, it's extremely appropriate.

You did label the action as disgusting in the OP, though, which leads me to believe that you recognize that it is indeed inappropriate. Perhaps when you say it's "appropriate" you mean it's "warranted", in that the situation is so extreme that it warrants an inappropriate expression.

I'd also disagree with that, but we don't have to agree to get along and have a healthy discussion.

Kathy Griffin was payback for Rosanne Barr. Deal.

That's the dumbest shit I've read all week.
