Well: defeating the purpose of this stream is exactly their goal.
Toxic haters won't always (or even usually) listen to reason, and when they don't, smart and aggressive moderation is the key to solving this problem.
I did my best to Mod a meme in this stream last night that was under heavy assault by spammers and haters. I ended up just unfeaturing it from the stream because modding it was sucking up too much of my time. I think that was the best I could do.
I recused myself from modding another meme on this stream, because I was an active participant in that conversation and could therefore be accused of bias. Another Mod could go and try to clean it up if they wish, but I'm not sure that conversation can really be saved at this point.
So it is a real problem. But there are streams on this site that have succeed in their goals, and I'm confident we can too.
