I posted a meme in "politics" about the foundational importance of respectful disagreement to society. I referenced what the Founding Fathers would have wanted us to do, and one conservative angrily cited Hamilton's and Burr's fatal duel in response.
Indeed that happened: but it stands to reason that early Americans would have never beaten the British Empire or made the compromises necessary to pass the Constitution if they were incapable of working together.
