Actually, if you are a competitive person like I am, they do matter. However, they only matter on a small scale.

In all seriousness though, I do enjoy collecting those points, even though they're not worth anything. It gives me that feeling of accomplishment when I'm having fun with my Imgflip friends or arguing with some political rival. Getting onto the 7 day leaderboard, it definitely makes my day.

Think I'd be in the top 10 if I stayed as active as I was back then all the way till now.

However, some people make too big a deal out of it, such as killer_killed_karma (now Roddy_Ricch) had some sort of meltdown after his account, and therefore his points, deleted.

Some people just don't know that some things just need to be let go
