Aww, poor guy. I had a similar experience with a certain hermit crab years ago... you can't blame yourself as hard as it is not to.

Yeah, even though he only had Skye for a couple of weeks, he was the best thing that happened to him. I wanted to make sure that he knows that Skye would’ve wanted him to carry on in life, and remember him, but not dwell on what you couldn’t have helped.

Yeah, I have a fish tank and I ordered some fish online(biggest mistake) and they all died within two days. I felt horrible like I had denied them the chance of life, but you know you can't blame yourself when you've had a pet in a short span, they could have died from something they picked up in a store. I have also accidentally drowned a hermit crab, so I had to deal with that horrible feeling. Your friend isn't alone, hope he feels better. RIP Skye!

Thanks, and the thing with cockatiels is that if they have a sickness, they tend to hide it so it is hard to tell

I once had a hermit crab. Long story, but basically I took a shell from Florida and once I was home it moved and the guy fixing our dishwasher took it home, but then it died cuz it was the wrong climate.

Yeah, I had some for a few years, then my younger friend was over and was grabbing it, so I took C.J.(my crab) from him and put him in the water dish the wrong way by accident and he drowned:(

ooh. Thats annoying. I once killed another fish by either not putting in enough conditioner, or putting in too hot water. Basically I had a new fish by the time my mom got home.

Awww poor kid. I had my cat die of cancer 2 years ago so I know that feel...

Thats so sad! I once had a fish that I brought as a class pet. Someone thought it was dead so he took it out of the tank. He was so proud of himself, but I'm still super angry. He killed my fish.
But I know what its like to lose a pet, I had a dog and she died. It was really sad and I cried for days. Even tho I get sad when I think about it, I know it was right for her. Everything and every pet has their time. Your friend should mourn, then eventually move on. Perhaps not another cockotail, but something equally as small.
