Too many people have this perception that OCD is a quirk that deals with a need to have things clean or organized, when it's a very serious mental illness that deals with uncontrollable intrusive and obsessive thoughts that generally lead to compulsions that inhibit daily functions, relationships and several other aspects of life. It causes so many problems that I can't even begin to describe.
Common OCD themes include persistent intrusive thoughts about the strength of one's relationship, intrusive thoughts about being gay, trans, a pedophile, incestuous, or attracted to animals, intrusive thoughts about potentially being blasphemous, being possessed by demons, harming people, thinking your thoughts will harm or make something happen to other people. They may seem irrational, but OCD works to be convincing. Thank you though for your words and recognizing my struggle because it is so damn hard.
