Uh-huh. About that "freedom": Blacks had to labor under Jim Crow for an entire century after the Civil War. Reconstruction and the end of it was an improvement from literal slavery but not all magic and rainbows for blacks.
Yeah, there are different reasons for flying the Confederate flag, and they're all misguided -- because it's a symbol of treason, slavery, and racism.
I'm from the South and I have an ancestor buried in a Confederate cemetery. Doesn't mean I feel any emotional connection to the Confederate Battle Flag whatsoever.
