Every request to an image asset counts as a view, it doesn't have to be a view on the image page. It doesn't even have to be a human, technically. If you never share it, then views are probably just from you. Occasionally there are also browser plugins or other things that will double-request assets so that it looks like there are for example 2 views instead of 1 even though you only loaded the image once.
