In sword and shield your Pokemon can dodge an attack "via your shout". You don't actually do anything in the battle but if you go to the Pokemon camp enough they'll become friendly to you and do that and other cool stuff in battle like extra critical hits or toughing out with 1 HP left when they should be dead

yeah but in most games your can't tell them to dodge in a real battle unless they do it by themselves which is pretty lucky.

I don't get it

the joke is that in the game you can't just tell your pokemon to dodge a move. So when I see it in the anime it makes me mad because our pokemon have to actually take the hit while they can just "dodge it"
