Small caveat: There are a handful of sources that can pretty much be crumpled up and tossed aside, but they are readily identifiable.
The farther you get toward the edges of this chart, the more likely you are to encounter a source so detached from reality that it’s probably not worth your time.
Stick to the middle, and you should be good. But these are the very sources most often attacked and dismissed by fringe conservatives as being part of the “mainstream, liberal media.”
Example: I had someone instantly dismiss a citation to the New York Times, perhaps not realizing the organization won a Pulitzer Prize for breaking the Weinstein story.
The initial Oct. 5, 2017 NYT story, which was backed up by numerous articles thereafter:

The Pulitzer Prize announcement:

(Of note, The New Yorker was a co-recipient of the Prize for the work done by Ronan Farrow.)
Weinstein was finally criminally convicted in March 2020:

Holding a member of the Hollywood elite and big Democratic donor to account for decades of sexual assault, because the information was the truth?
All in a day’s work for the mainstream, liberal press.
Breitbart or whoever wouldn’t be capable of this kind of work.
