With all this big government, can you imagine the hell Republicans would be raising if a Democrat were President right now?

What if HRC were president during Covid-19? Safe to say, right-wingers would be going even more berserk at the restrictions. | WHAT IF? | image tagged in memes, hillary clinton,covid-19,coronavirus,what if,alternate reality | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
To be clear, hypothetically speaking, I think Hillary Clinton would be doing a much better job managing the Covid-19 crisis if she were President, as a pure administrative matter.

But the GOP would quite possibly have chosen to obstruct every Democratic relief bill rather than pass bills in a bipartisan fashion as we’ve seen over the past few weeks.

Recall how right-wingers raised hell for months and years against HRC over relatively trivial matters like Benghazi and email-gate, and have even taken to making stuff up out of whole cloth about Epstein, “suiciding,” etc. Deapite the fact she hasn’t held any office for 3+ years.

No conspiracy is too outlandish to attribute to “the witch.”

So, with all the necessary social restrictions we’re seeing now, all the conspiracies right-wingers already have about HRC would have been amped up to 11.

Assuming HRC or another Democratic President, I think there’s a real possibility the conservative-led protests we’re already seeing against the state-imposed quarantines would have gotten a lot more heated and rowdier. Perhaps we’d even be seeing armed rebellion at this point.

I fear for what these concerted disinformation campaigns have done to our politics and ability to respond to real crises regardless of who is in power.

Gary Johnson Hello Over Here | image tagged in gary johnson hello over here | made w/ Imgflip meme maker
I used to be libertarian myself: I voted for Gary Johnson in '12 and '16. And John McCain in '08.

But the GOP's total takeover by Trump and its abandonment of the principles that once made it attractive to me -- principled love of country, deficit reduction, and the like -- has made that no longer an option. And with the all issues at stake, I'm no longer keen on effectively wasting my vote on a third party.

I voted Bernie Sanders a few weeks ago. Joe Biden was one of my least favorite Democrats in the 2020 primaries, but I plan to reluctantly cast my vote for him in November. We don't always get our way in politics, and we don't have the option of purity anymore.

If the GOP were still led by someone like Mitt Romney, different story. But they're running an incompetent huckster and fraud instead. No thanks.
