The majority of my friends are nurses and in the health industry working at hospitals. I'm getting MY information from firsthand and not reading an article with opinions in it.

I'm pretty down the middle about this, it's a very aggressive virus, I think the overall lockdown in some states is a little extreme, I do think people need to take extreme precaution, and I didn't accept the stimulus check because I'm a libertarian.

The fact of the matter is, San Diego has far less infections and deaths than Las Vegas even though it has a higher population.

Explain that one to me please.

Also, take in account San Diego has been much more Vigilant in regards to protecting its businesses, and social distancing than Las Vegas.

I'm from both places, so I'm paying attention.

I don't think it's a mere coincidence that wearing a mask, putting plexiglass at the registers and enforcing social distancing measures in a place with more population AND denser, has less deaths/ infections.

I don't think the economy should be shut down for months, but I do think safeguards and extreme safety should be taken given the aggressive nature of this virus.

I have been comparing Vegas rates to San Diego - since I'm from Vegas and stuck in SD - I was wondering why the rates are so high there.
Oh because the Mayor is failing to act for the good of her people.

As a libertarian I'm not one for government control, but as a person with common sense I am one for proper protocol when it comes to opening up the economy.

Either way, you're going to have deaths on your hands, there are so many businesses - small businesses that will not survive this.

Nevada isn't astronomically infected, but when you consider 76% of Nevadans are in the Las Vegas area, it'd bad and we have one of the highest cases number per million in the U.S. But if Casinos and hotels did open, I doubt there would be many people at all. The Vegas economy gets hit hard either way and that's just how it is. It's not worth a risk of more lives to open, it would've been horrible had it never closed. People are gradually starting to take it more serious. I thought at the end of February: 70 people infected? No big deal, WHY is this clogging up the news? Less than 50 days later we have over 10,000 times as much cases. Then the first death came, I thought: Oh..., next day another death. Next day 4 deaths. Now, we've gotten 4000 deaths a day, and I now take it seriously. It seems like that's low to a ton of people and they don't take it seriously... how much does it have to be for them to understand the severity?
