My husband worked at a cruise terminal and I worked at a theme park. After the terminal closed he did security in an E.R. Given our level exposure to the public and to people from other countries, we both should have been exposed and gotten sick, or at the very least know have coworkers who have gotten sick.
At first I believed the bullshit lies. I sat at home waiting to get sick or find out that I had exposed my 80 year old grandma and she had gotten sick. I sat in terror, and then...nothing. none of my co-workers has anything. None of my husbands co-workers has anything. My grandma (over 80, still refuses to quit smoking, and lives in a household with a health care worker) is fine. My mom and my husband (who both work at hospitals) say the ones they worked at didn't experience the overburdened ERs or shortage of PPE the media has been whipping us into a frenzy over. I do have friends who have received unlawful tickets at the "discretion" of the police (One for smoking on the porch of his own home) and they can't even contest them (due process?) Because the courts are closed. I have seen no evidence that COVID19 is a threat worthy of putting the entire country under house arrest. I have seen plenty of evidence of oppressive government overreach.
But you go ahead and believe the "ministry of truth" and welcome to 1984.
