new york has the highest infection rate and an 8% death rate. these people knew about the corona virus and are the ones responsible..LOCAL GOVERNMENT...although i would have gotten a kick out of how the libertards head would exploded if president trump said new york or any other state should have closed.
these same people cheer there governors when they say state rights and blame the federal government when its all messed up.

As a resident of the great state of NY, it is common knowledge that the states were originally following the recommendations of the federal government. I even said to myself there’s no way we can shut down NYC. What an utterly ridiculous notion!

When the states (particularly the ones hardest hit) realized the federal recommendations were coming from a complete asshat, they imposed their own (states’ rights or some such nonsense).

The federal government is so ass backwards right now, Republican governors are stashing N-95 masks in safe houses to protect them long enough to distribute to their own people before the fed confiscates them under the DPA.

as a fellow life long resident of new york...i must ask...which federal recommendations?
the CDC ? who were getting them from WHO?
like every other state ? everyone was mislead by this WHO...a virus is unseen and us as a country could have only went by information at hand...the virus was already here. leaving us all to play catch up...

The recommendations they were getting from WHO were telling them, in short, “this is bad”. Congress was advised as such, hence the two assholes from NC and GA dumping stock right after the advisory meeting (at the end of January) and making money on our (yours AND my) collective suffering. To that end, the Trump narrative doesn’t add up.

Trump went to Fauci and asked “what if we just let this wash over the country” and Fauci reportedly responded “people are going to die”.

that wasnt a legit question..? thats what obama did with swine flu...trump took faucis advice and put a plan in to action

Trump didn’t take Fauci’s advice and is continuing to not do so; that much is fairly obvious. Trump isn’t listening to anyone in his own administration as evidenced by the claim that “5 million tests a day is right around the corner” when we’re struggling to do 200,000 a day.

to be honest ..im not sure if that number is based on availibility or peoples lack of willingness to be tested....i do agree some mistakes are made....what i dont get if recommendation are..wash your hands...wear a mask (which in the begining was not recommended for the longest time ) and you wont get the virus are even true..i just dont why healthy are quarratined also...believe me..there is a lot of misery going around right..i have a few around me that have died because of this virus..i am in NYC...but i believe that the real misery will come for all of us when the economical ramifacations final come out of this

I believe (a very tenuous word) that the reason for not recommending masks at the outset was to keep the surge of demand down. Right or wrong, it makes sense.

The ‘healthy‘ are quarantined because they might not be healthy, just asymptomatic. There isn’t adequate testing and without adequate testing, an asymptomatic person could infect countless numbers and the problem never goes away.

My wife has cancer and I work in construction in NYC because we’re considered “essential”. I am terrified every day I will bring the virus home and unwittingly kill her.

Economic hardship comes and goes. Death is final.

that is a terrible situation and i feel for you...and i was deemed essential untill march 25th..in my office at that time 28 people contracted it and as of now 5 deaths have occured and this waa 6 weeks after it was deemed a pandemic by the WHO...im saying their is a lot of blame..i was already on pack trains and buses for weeks already..i thank you for your essential service...but i i do worry about bussinesses like flower shops..and other non essential businesses..they wont make it...communities will change...and corporations who survive will take over...tje ameeican dream of owning a little piece of this world just may be over

Don’t thank me for my essential service. It’s complete bullshit. It’s only essential to the company owners. I resent having to work.

Small businesses will make it if the fed does the right thing and puts the money allocated for them in the right hands. But based on the horror stories we’re hearing already, plus tax cuts for real estate developers (shocked face) in the stimulus package, the Republican-controlled Senate doesn’t give two shits about people like you and me. Mitch McConnell has already said as much.

I found a timeline during my daily readings. Always consider the source, but The Atlantic leans left, but the PDB is what it is.

also ..the WHO sat on this ..taking chinas word that it was not an airborne virus...as china lied about the severity...look at the timelines
0 ups, 4y
There’s no disputing China lied about the severity (or their death tolls...a bullet in the head before COVID-19 kills you isn’t *technically* a COVID-19 death) and the WHO has claimed all along that this was going to be bad, hence the briefing in late January (one month after the virus was identified).

I won’t pretend to be an expert on what powers the WHO possesses and whether or not they can usurp a nation’s sovereignty to gain info; I simply don’t know. But it is common knowledge that this administration was given the information we now know at the end of January, did nothing for the month of February, and finally acted in March.
