The chinese numbers are clearly requiring more substantiation.
But were are you hearing this claim of 70% not being counted?
The cases and mortality numbers that are being published through hospitalisations worldwide are inflating Covid deaths which you can easily find reference too.
But Underreporting of deaths and cases in other than China I can not find reference or explanation of how and why.
Many poorer countries definitely have got cases which haven't presented due to cost of treatment and because the vast majority are recovering without assistance from hospitals. And because of this appear to be having higher death % in relation to infections.

Or are you meaning 70% under reporting of infections?

2. that is by definition an estimation (and subject to manipulation). If we knew with any certainty how many weren't being counted, we'd have counted them.
3. It's Easter. Let's not do this right now.

Yes, it's an estimate that could easily be off. This is an American estimate. We're severely lacking in tests. People are quarantined in place, thinking they might have it but don't know because they can't get tested. Bodies are being found every day. They are not automatically called rona deaths and are not automatically counted that way.

We don't have the most because we're counting more people. We have the most because we have the most.
