The Great Depression was caused by the Progressives who ran the Federal Reserve (which was forced on the United States - by Progressives - with the excuse that the Fed would prevent depressions and recessions).
Herbert Hoover thought he could fix the stock market crash and just made things so much worse. Franklin Roosevelt came in on a "hope and change" message and just kept screwing things up for the American people. FDR's policies hurt all Americans but they especially hurt farmers.
This is a common misconception that WWII ended the Great Depression. Only if by killing off 320,000 America soldiers to lower unemployment means FDR solved the Depression then perhaps. But even with all of that the economy never actually fully recovered until the day FDR died in office.
Just like Obama's dreadful economy rebounded just by Hillary losing the election in 2016. Then Trump cut taxes and that let people keep more of the money that belongs to them which always is a shot in the arm for the economy.
