If the fabric of these hats is consistent, they do convert well for protective masks. However, unless the edge of the material strictly conforms to your nose, cheeks and chin, these are about as effective as surgical masks. In that they are ineffective...

Yes, you may be seeing many people sporting surgical masks, even doctors, but it's been proven that the typical masks you see worn by medical professionals are not as effective as dust masks or construction masks...

If we're smarter, medical professionals will switch to dust masks after this crisis but I'm seeing far too many people making their own creative surgical masks from home. That being said, if you cannot find any appropriate masks or do not have dust masks, whatever you have available is better than no mask at all. Hence why you may see so many wearing the common medical masks, even medical professional. It's usually out of lack of supply than ignorance. I'd rather it be the former than the latter, if you don't mind.
I'm actually pleased to see Trump Supporters wearing masks. I was actually worried many of you would not wear them. In either case, I want you to stay safe. My quarrel with you only extends to your choice of President. Not your lifestyle.
