Iam sorry that you feel that way. I worked for the Federal Govenment for about 30-years. I was a Regional Director, which is about equal to the level of Naval Captain. I never sent a letter to my boss that had multipe other addressees. That is an insult to the superior. You have to trust that your boss is doing what he has to do given the circumstances he finds himself in. This is especially true in the military, where discipline is everrythhing. It takes courage that few civilians can fathom to "hold fire until you see the whites of their eyes." In that not everyone is brave, discipline steps in to take the place of courage. Navy leadership would not make a Captain unnecessarily put his crew at risk to serve the political whims of our out of control president. But, that is the underlying sentiment of many who miss the point here. Regardless of the inappropriate statements of the Acting Naval Secretary, the system saves lives. Regardless of the fact that one sailor is reported to have been critically ill, discipline is necessary. This temporary crisis will pass. We will still need the Navy to protect us. If we set a new standard in which the chain of command is important, except when public sentiment supports protest, we are doomed. By the way, I am a lifelong liberal Democrat, who thinks Trump's incompetence made this problem many times worse than it should be. But, military discipline is more, not less, important in times of national chaos in leadership.
