I must ask, why is it called the legend of Zelda, when the protagonist is called Link? (I spent 5 years thinking he was the one named Zelda)

I might be wrong about this, but I'm pretty sure there's a character in the game named Zelda who's pretty important. Don't remember for sure, though.

If you're being sarcastic, you're doing a great job. But still it's confusing. Zelda is important but not the protagonist. A title like "The Legend of X" generally refers to the protag or the location it's set in
