With no strings attached, it was a legitimate worry

Pretty sure Republicans would go along with it if Dems were not shoving totally unreasonable and ridiculous pork down our throats.

Dems did introduce an alternative bailout bill, with plenty of provisions unacceptable to Republicans to negotiated away later

This is politics

Rome is burning. Congressional Dems are stalling much needed aid to people that have no way to feed and care for their families. But on the bright side, they have some voters on their side that support this absolutely shameful behavior and can even justify it by saying, “this is politics.”

A deal will be reached today, it appears. It will be a better one than if Democrats had caved yesterday because of concerns about optics.
