Anyone else have cabin fever yet?

I'm thinking it might be the first time i'm history people actually look forward to Monday morning.

I for one am just living normal. At home with the kids all day. Although my county has declared a stay at home order so we can't go to the park anymore.

I’m still able to go out and about, which I’m thankful for, just as long as we practice social distancing. I’m also thankful I live in a state where there’s still snow on the ground so the college kids aren’t throwing giant spring break parties. I heard the college kids down in Florida were drinking beer out of each others’ buttcracks as a sign of defiance, so the Governor down there shut the entire state down.

I really don't know at this moment. I'll admit the meme I posted was a bit exaggerating, but I am really close to losing my mind completely now, and yesterday night even even mailed an outcry to my psychiatrist. I've completely had it, and I don't dare to leave my house anymore and not because of the virus itself.... The fear I have for humans increased due the imbecile behavior I see there. Some people were so desperate keeping distance they ran over the street to attain the distance, forgetting there are still cars on the road... I see the paranoid and even agressive nature of people increase every time I go to the supermarket to do my weekly shopping. I am even now trying to find out if there are people who can do it for me, in order to prevent a complete mental outburst while I'm in the store, as I feel it closing in hour by hour. And trust me... When I go berserk... You don't wanna be there.

So for me the first thing to do is making sure I can regain my calm again and regain my nerve to get on the road again. I hope I can find some comfort with people I know and trust (well people I trust are actually non-existent, and that has been that way since the day I was born, but as close as "trust" can come)...

I may buy in some extra cat milk as a reward for my cat, Kitty, for the support she's been to me during this time. Without her, I'd already have lost it, I swear!

So sorry you're struggling but I'm sure you're not the only one. I think the psychological damage that the media and governments are causing in the face of this virus may end up being worse than the virus itself. I'm struggling too since I have to keep explaining to my children why we can't go to the park or church or to visit friends, I've had to cancel our once a year visit to my family who live far away because of this. To my kids it doesn't make sense to have to stay at home when they're not sick. I hope you're able to speak to your doctor. I've been tempted myself to call my counselor from years past.

I'm glad you have a little furry companion to help you escape from the insanity out there right now. Know that you do have friends in real life right here. I've often found comfort in the friends I have made on this meme site of all places. Know that I'm only a message away if you ever want to chat. I'll always find time to listen. Take care of yourself.

Yes, I'm quite sure that damage is greater. I am a member of an opinion panel for a Dutch news show, and in the poll they sent me yesterday I have been very very honest about their role in all this mess. I've also predicted more violence in the house, more (violent) divorces, suicides, economical issues, and more things, and stated with them that I only mentioned the tip of the iceberg, and then an iceberg so high that the Mt. Everest only appears to a small hill compared to it.

Yes, Kitty has been a very good way to escape insanity. She's completely unaware of the madness outside the house (I live on the 4th floor (5th in US calculations) and I don't have an elevator, so she never gets further than my balcony), and I envy her for that. It's not the first time she's been such a support for me. When I had to undergo surgery (removal of my gall bladder), almost one year ago, she too was quite aware something was to happen to me. I still remember how happy she was, when I came back home after the surgery. She's very young. This summer she'll be 2 years old, but she's already brought me more support than most humans I met altogether.

And thanks for your offer to message you. You'll find that I am always a bit in hesitation when I need help. Part due of the way I've been raised.

It's Kate Mate ;) but no worries. You were right to speak your mind to the news show. I think they need a good paddling for all the damage they've caused and most likely all for profit, not that they really care about anyone's health.

Pets are the best. I'm not a cat person myself but grew up with dogs all my life. I miss the four legged mutts. But I have enough 2 legged creatures depending on me, I don't need to add a dog into the mix.

I'll message you sometime. I understand the hesitation to talk. I tend to internalize everything too and give everyone the impression I'm fine when I'm actually near a nervous breakdown. Maybe we can help eachother overcome those barriers.

Sorry, Kate... I just was reading a book in which the main protagonist fell in love with girl named "Kim" so her name was mentioned so much, that I still had that name in mind... ;) Hence the mistake. Both start with a K.

You know the funny thing is... I just read a Dutch column which hit the nail on its head. It mentioned how people are getting in more and more trouble and how the economy is about to crash, and although health is more important than economy, when the latter crashes, the former will go down with it, especially in a country where health care is partially state regulated, and how the total damage is completely out of proportion. And yet, the thing still open in the Netherlands is the supermarket, and THAT is most likely the only place where you'll have a high risk of infection. Of course you still to buy food, cleaning stuff etc, but it might have been better that in stead of going into quarantine to close supermarkets and have people bringing the daily/weekly supplies by order, and to invest more on that one.

I chose a cat, due to me always being good with cats (must be a natural talent as we had none at home when I was a boy), I've had a kind of phobia with dogs, which makes it harder for me to connect with them, and when you live 4 floors up without an elevator, having to go down all the stairs to take the dog for a walk 2 or 3 times a day is not really a wonderful idea... And now that I don't dare to come outside, because that makes me feel threatened... Not having to take the dog for a walk might also be only for the better...

Crazy that no one seems to think twice about the possibility that the virus is spreading because people are out shopping in crowded stores. But hey they gotta have their toilet paper right?

I agree cats are def the way to go as far as being lower maintenance especially if you're stuck on an upper floor apartment. I would never own a dog until i have some land for him to run in.
