The reason Trump was elected in the first place is because they rigged the primary for an incredibly corrupt person in 2016 & hardly even did a good job pretending otherwise! There were massive protests then, and there will be massive protests this year, which are already being planned, if they rig the primaries for Biden this time it will make it clear they intend to rig the General election for Trump again, and they're only pretending to oppose him!
