College costs continue to increase 8 times faster than wages. Our grandparents and parents could cover college costs with summer jobs. Now we tax college students 8% on their college debt, using it as a cash cow. They're basically indentured servants of the broken system.

I'm saying neither side has the answers. While the left is good intentioned, giving grants only empowered colleges to charge more money. There needs to be a different solution. The solution doesn't just stop increased cost, it lowers costs.

The general feeling I get from the boomer generation is, "I paid my way, stop crying, get a summer job and pay your own way". "Don't you dare ask me for my money, to help you".

While I get why they may feel that way, todays world is a completely different world than post WWII when a years worth at Harvard could be paid through working summers and weekends.

Sorry about the Harvard thing. Elite schools get top dollar. Get your liberal arts degree somewhere cheaper. Better yet, go to trade school or join a union and get a good paying job that’s actually in demand. My son is making $60/hr after graduating a five year apprenticeship program, plus great benefits.
