In Anzù, Northern Italy, the hotbed of the coronavirus in Europe, is a basilica where the relics of Saint Victor and Saint Corona are being preserved since the 9th century.

Saint Corona was only fifteen when she professed her Christian Faith during the persecution of the Roman emperor Marcus Aurelius around 165.

Comforting Saint Victor in the course of his matyrdom Corona was arrested and tied to the tops of two palm trees which were bent to the ground. When the palms were let loose she was torn apart. According to the Roman Martyrology, this happened in Syria.

Saint Corona is especially venerated in Austria and Bavaria as the Patron Saint against epidemics.

Her feast day is May 14.

Thank you for the details, ArcMis. At first, the name threw me off but read this and realized it was true.
It's quite a coincidence... that her Feast Day happened to coincide with the Corona outbreak

Where did you get this information from?

Thanks for noticing.

Apparently St Corona is little known out of the mentioned regions.
I just happened to learn about her this week which sparked my interest and I did some research.
There's quite some rich sources and prayers in German which I fluently speak.
The above text is a slightly edited citation from
https://sspx.ca/en/news-events/news/there-saint-corona-and-she-patron-saint-against-plague-and-epidemics-56032

here's a more detailed english source:
https://aleteia.org/2020/03/14/yes-theres-actually-a-st-corona-and-shes-buried-in-the-middle-of-the-pandemic/

Where do you get that May-14 coincidence from? I couldn't verify this.
(Coronavirus outbreak Wuhan Dec-2019)

Thank you for providing information on St. Corona. And thank you for telling me your citation for which your writing came from.

For the latter, be sure to always include that citation when you copy and paste because I was wondering if you were deliberately plagerizing or you simply have forgotten to add it. With that, I suggest you also let readers know that you copied from that cite..

Yes, you did. I'm not accusing you of anything, please don't take it as, but... your note of citation and mentioning of slight edition came only after I've responded to your meme.

I'm well aware of the standards of citation.
As I do know the difference between an academic publication and a meme site.

glad to help-
here's to you: a translation of an old prayer from 'Sankt Corona am Wechsel', Austria.
(yes- even a village was named for her)

Almighty God who redeemeth the sins of Thy people and healeth their afflictions. Who be called Lord and medic, and sent Your beloved Son to bear our illnesses. Look upon us who humbly stand before You. In this time of epidemic and hardship we implore You: recall Your mercy and benevolence as ever having shown to Your people in times of tribulation.
As You graciously looked upon Aaron's conciliation and curbed the outbreaking plague, as You accepted David's offering and balked the angel, the corruptor, to let up his hand, as do now accept our prayer and offering and answer us as per Your mercy.
Avert this malady from us, let those who have been afflicted recuperate, protect those who have been preserved by Your mercy, and keep the plague at bay (lit. don't let run rampant).
Holy Mary healer of the sick pray for us.
St. Corona pray for us.
St. Sebastian pray for us.
St. Rochus pray for us.
Amen.
