LOL! Happy St. Paddy's Hangover Day Brian! :) I just emailed my best friend (who lives a few miles away) and joked that I was safe at home and "self-violating"...he replied: "You didn’t need a pandemic to start self-violating...you were already in the middle of a handemic." LMAO! Laughter really is the best medicine! :) Take god care!

ROTFLMAO! I hope this isn't racist. A coworker sent me the pick. Son in law's work just shut down, but we're still going, for now. Stay healthy and don't touch your face (especially now with the handemic! lol) :-)

LMAO! Nope, I don't think that's racist at all...I wouldn't take offense to that if I was a well-hung black man! :)

Awooooh! Monster Chiller Horror Theatre! LOL! A half hour episode of SCTV would air after the CBC Saturday "Hockey Night in Canada"...a few seasons before they "sold out" to NBC for hour long episodes produced in the States. NBC shows were good, but not quite the same as the shows filmed in Canada (Edmonton) I think! :)

I started watching the half hour episodes back in the day. By the time they did Fantasy Island with Eugene as Mr. Rourke and John Candy as Tattoo (Flaherty and Thomas as Crosby and Hope) I was hooked. Actually I believe they were out of Toronto (home of my wife's favorite band, Rush and if not for The Beatles quite possibly my favorite band (which may explain why Geddy sang on Bob And Doug's album)). One good thing came out of the export to The U.S. The American networks had 30 seconds less advertising per half hour than CBC. In order to sell the show to the American market they had to come up with an extra minute of show per hour. One of the cast said what if we just had two "hosers" talk about nothing for a minute and voilà Bob And Doug were born (kind of like a Canadian Seinfeld). Beauty, eh! :-)

Geez eh, you can kinda tell that ya got some "Canadian roots"...'cause you're so easy goin' and polite, eh? LOL! A few friends and I worked in Edmonton in the summer of 1980, banked some cash and then came back home for University...was one of the best summers of my life! :) Jeebus, I just realized that I was living in Edmonton around the same period that SCTV was there...Awoooooh! Scary kids! LOL! Here's a YouTube link to SCTV's "Death of a Salesman" skit...you will enjoy Ricardo Montalban, DeForest Kelley, George Carlin and John Belushi...cheers!

ROTFLMAO!!! I literally have tears in my eyes, I haven't laughed that hard in a long time! I have no idea where they came up with that skit, but I'll have what they're smoking. Our hockey team is in the same league as The Edmonton Oil Kings (The WHL). Last week they called the season two weeks early and the final standings had Portland 1, Everett 2 and Edmonton 3. If we are able to have the playoffs there is a good chance Everett could play Edmonton for the championship. In the words of Red Green, "keep your stick on the ice". Thanks again for the clip, it's much appreciated! :-)

Yes you are right! ( I googled) Seems that SCTV started off in Toronto for 2 seasons (76-79) then the 3rd. season was produced in Edmonton. The cast changed a bit for the 3rd. season with John Candy and Catherine O'Hara taking a break...but Rick Moranis joined them in Edmonton and all hell broke loose! LOL! :) Moranis with his Woody Allen, David Brinkley, Dick Cavett...his George Carlin was deadly! LOL! Rush played here at our old 3,000 seat stadium back in '87...seem we Newfoundlanders have been very lucky in having a lotta big name groups perform on our island in the middle of the North Atlantic! :) Now take off, eh! :)

I had no idea SCTV moved to Edmonton (The birth place of my grandfather, I think). Rick Moranis really did add a lot to the show. One skit that stands out in my mind was The Merv Griffith Show with Rick as Merv Griffin playing the part of Andy Griffith complete with Joe Flaherty as Barney and Eugene Levy as Floyd The Barber (One of my all time favorite impressions). I believe Otis gets Opie drunk. My wife has seen Rush more times than she can remember, but I've only seen them once, on their last tour: Clockwork Angels. They were all awesome, especially Neil, but unfortunately Geddy's voice just wasn't what it used to be. Wife and stepson met Geddy last summer at a book signing. Wife didn't buy a book so she didn't get to talk to him, but step son did and got a fist bump. Beauty! :-)

Good Tuesday buddy! :) This "thread" has gotten so long that I've lost track! LOL! SCTV Death of a Salesman...glad that you had a good laugh...I hadn't seen that skit since 1980 and it brought tears to my eyes too! :) Their "Bones and Carlin" impressions were incredible! Ciao for now!
