One, respect to you sir. It is incredibly rare to see a statement start with "fair enough" on imgflip's politics section. A man that can be reasoned with will always be greater than the man beyond reason.
As far as the wet markets, I know they exist in the smaller cities and more rural provinces, but I don't know enough about them to really be able to spar, so I will share only what I know to be true. I watched the videos you posted and they are legit. I know I went to a similar market like ten years ago when I was on vacation in a more rural provence. From being here myself, the guy in the second link is also interesting because he does say a lot of right things, but they are mixed in with some wrong things too. For example, I mean, he dives into it again that this is where the coronavirus started, wet markets. Don't get me wrong, while this theory oozes with circumstantial evidence and seems very probable, it hasn't been determined yet what caused it. Now, I know conspiracy theorists will then argue that the Chinese government is hiding this specific detail, but consider SARS from 2003. When they found out the animal it came from, it hit the sound waves quickly and it was outlawed immediately. The leadership here hasn't really changed. So again, while it is probable, I am not sold on it without evidence.
This is why I stay in Beijing though. My family has had very lucrative offers to work in other provinces, but we have pretty much stayed put in the capital. It seems to be a lot more up to par in this area.
