Unfortunately... I don't... The Esperanto community deems me a fool, as (according to them) there are more people speaking Esperanto than there are people speaking English.... (Fun part, they told me so in ENGLISH).

Sorry about that.

Don't sweat is... I know Esperanto was meant to overcome the Babylonian language issue... But I guess that in the end English is now playing that role....

Yeah, that probably explains why Esperanto is dying. (what a coincidence my native language is English but it's now playing the role, just saying)

Yeah, I was less lucky since it's not my native language. I have the feeling Esperanto never had the success it was meant to have. Prior to WWI there was a very small independent land south of the Netherlands, close to Germany, and when they were trying to form an actual state, Esperanto was to be the official language there. However WWI destroyed all hopes to that, and the state vanished and is now part of Belgium... of the German speaking region of Belgium even.... Oh well.

It also explains why I don't know people who can speak Esperanto. I just googled that there is only 2 million people speak it, not to mention that only 1,000 to 2,000 people has Esperanto as their native language. This is all WW1's fault.

Let's not rule out WWII either. I need to verify it, but I once heard a story that Hitler banned Esperanto under the punishment of death, since the one who invented it happened to be a Jew. But like I said, I've not been able to verify that. If that is true, this could also explain a few things. Now I wonder where the people live who have Esperanto as their native language since it is an artificial language.

Germany is the one who always hit puberty (not literally, but you get the idea).

I'm neither gonna support nor refute that claim, if you don't mind

I'm confused, but I'll go along with that.
