The last Sola is Soli Deo Gloria, and in English: to God alone be the glory. In an age when the Clergy and the laity; the Pope and the Saints are given undue credit and honor, the Reformers set the biblical record straight
Priests for example were called "Fathers", not for the reason of biology but because they are a "Source" of knowledge for the laity and the unbelieving. The Priests are at the bottom of the clerical heiarchy which makes the Pope "(The) Source" of truth as, after all, he is the stand-in for Christ. In the meanwhile, the laity, taught that salvation is merited, would give credit to themselves for the works that they've done.
While it is true that due to their theological education that they are the sources of knowledge, the Reformers let it be known that the ultimate source is God (Psalms 33:11). I do not know why the word Father is used but it is almost or is charlatan in function. The Saints and Angels by the nature of their roles in Catholic theology also given reverence similarly.
The word "Worship" as we know it is to give honor and reverence to God or any other deity, but when you see the kings subjects giving reverence and honor by bowing down or kneeling to them and giving them reverential words "King of Kings", or "Your Highness", or "Your Grace", etc you are virtually worshipping him. With regard to the Popes on earth, and the Saints, and Angels in praying to them... in heaven..., giving them praise, adoration, etc, is all but a violation of scriptural command as Jesus said in Matthew 4:10 God alone is to be worshipped.
It can be argued that the reverence given to are not the same level as given to God, much like subject to kings, but I want to stress that they're in heaven... they're being prayed to... when Jesus in 2 Timothy 2:5 is the only mediator between God and Man. It gives an appearance of Pagan worship where not only Zeus is such treated but also the god Apollo, goddess Athena, etc,
And while also true that the laity did much in obeidence for their salvation, salvation can only be possible through Christ alone (John 14:6, 15:5). Because of their sins, they are dead as Paul puts it. They can do nothing at all to affect their eternal destiny. And if the opposite is true, then they can boast, but it is not, Thus in Epheians 2:9 "... not of works lest any should boast."
Thus, because God alone is THE source of truth and salvation, all glory goes to Him.
