The book is pretty damned good but read the shining first and don't cheat, the movies are not nearly as good as the books.

i’ve watched the Shining and it’s a good movie

I liked Kubriks take on it but the book I still think was better. More detail can go into books to flesh it all out more. Rarely are the movies better than the books. Very rarely like maybe Jaws. I like Jaws the movie much better than the book.

The It series is good too, I personally like the original and not the remake
