Me too. When they seemed to be in shock as a nation after the USSR fell, it set up a vacuum for people like Putin to just step in. It happened so fast, nobody was ready to round up the former KGB thugs and keep them out of the new government. Boots on the ground, necessary for victory in every war, especially the Cold War.
