Ah yeah, I know that one... The one with the creatures has a bit of the same setup when it comes to stairways (although it's bigger)... That particular drawing is by the way what inspired the finale of the movie Labyrinth when Sarah must face the Goblin King (who is brilliantly portrayed by David Bowie).

Correct! The water itself flows its natural flow, it's just that the building it flows through defies the laws of physics creating the illusion the water goes up, and the waterfall makes the illusion complete.
