But the water doesn't transfer the wetness onto other objects. If it did, the objects would still be wet after you take the water away again. "Wet" just means having water on or in it. That's how touching a wet object makes you wet as well - it doesn't transfer the wetness, it transfers the water.
You could still argue that water is wet because it is in contact with water though. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
