I bought the boat used for $7k ten years ago. The restoration cost $6k last year ($3k in parts $3k in labor), but now everything is aluminum and I no longer have to worry about rot. It also saved me a coupe of hundred pounds in weight. And my neighbor did the work. He works on everyone's boats around here. He can rebuild anything. (charged me half price per hour because we're neighbors)
I downgraded the motor to a 25hp so I can use it on our largest reservoir. Use to have to rent a boat there and it could take an hour to get out to where I like to start fishing in the rentals with their 8hp motors. Now it takes less than 20 minutes and I have comfortable seats and more storage than I know what to do with.
Great small mouth fishing and there are some huge large mouth around for being a northern lake. Lot's of people fish for lake trout here, but I prefer bass. And tons of wildlife. Moose, otters, eagles and my favorite, loons.
