I think deep down the democrats knew they were gonna fail. Which is the reason reason why Pelosi doesn’t even want to discuss it now.

I think they had the ulterior motive of trying to identify party corruption in republicans, to show that they vote with loyalty instead of logic, which is the real reason they wanted more witnesses. Without said witnesses they had no absolute way of using it as bait to place a label on the republicans.

To be honest, democrats already revealed this practice during the Clinton impeachment anyways....with their own party....
