Nice post. I wish I could answer honestly but I've never watched the superbowl. Sports just bores me to death. I will however watch the occasional commercial or halftime show on youtube after the fact if I've heard of any that were memorable. (Like poor Beyonce here;) I did watch this one since you mentioned it. I can see why it would appeal to you. The lights and choreography (minus the irrelevant pole dancing and having 8 year old girls up there with twerking adults) was impressive. But still if it represents most halftime shows I guess I'm not missing much. Glad you enjoyed it.

Super Bowl halftime shows are a real mixed bag for me — there have been some enjoyable ones, like Bruno Mars/Red Hot Chili Peppers, Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers, and Prince — but also some awful snoozers I could barely watch

This show was really well put together and executed from beginning to end. Great songs and choreography, lots of energy, perfect synergy between Shakira and J. Lo. And the fact they both looked as flawless as they did, at ages 44/51, pulling off the moves their show required is just stunning

I used to be in a Latin dance club in college and I actually danced to some of the songs on their setlist, which gives me an extra appreciation and sense of nostalgia

I remember Waka Waka from my very fun Zumba classes awhile back. It's one of my favorites since I had just met my soon to be husband from Africa and this was the theme song for the World Cup there in 2010. He's a big soccer fan (known as football everywhere else in the world) so the song brings good memories and reminds me of my visit to Africa.

I still do Zumba dances to Waka Waka!

Nah, not for me, but it did inspire wifey to talk about having a pole installed in front of our living room mirror

I mean why not? Doesn't everyone do that? Not unusual at all. I have mine next to the piano and sofa with granny's hand knitted afghan. The toddlers like to pretend they're fireman. It is great for core body strength, I agree and that's what we're tell our pastor when he comes over for dinner.

Had to go to Wing Daddy's to see the game, left after the halftime show but we watched the rest on streaming services. Some guy at the bar said this while I was leaving.
