Low level beef with The_Think_Tank on the subject of a female dress code continues!

There you go again. Whining about the tank. FWI there's no restriction there on bikinis although I don't see why there would be a need to post scantily clad girls there. Why is it so important to you? You do knew that Syd says things just to get you on edge. Like the w**re comments. The tank is like his stomping ground to poke fun at the rest of us there. Just take a look at his comment on my feminism post. Now someone like you would take his comment totally out of context and probably flag or report him for threatening violence. Lol. You gotta get to know some people before you just take everything they say especially online at face value.

I get what you're saying. A stream pretty clearly created for the sole purpose of triggering me, and it's been fun, but at the same time what a heaping pile of disgusting and misogynistic/s**t-shaming content.

This time feels a bit different: Syd says he now sees my "true nature" and he's done with me. I guess he's on some sort of tilt because I called him racist, but that pretty much just comes with the territory of debating politics. I certainly have been called exactly that (by people who don't know what they're talking about), and it doesn't really affect or concern me.

Like when people claim I'm "exploiting" women merely by re-posting sexy celeb pics that they themselves posed for and have no problem with being online. Huh?

I see The_Think_Tank stream rules have been tweaked ever so slightly and there is no longer an explicit reference to "bikinis." :)

Why are bikinis important? Not trying to turn the Tank into another place ogle women. As you say, there are other streams geared toward that.

I just think there's a double-standard regarding female dress, and want to speak up in defense of girls being called "s**ts" and worse for not wearing the exact length skirt or whatever. To me, it's the same misogynistic and sex-negative impulse that, when taken to an extreme, leads to things like burqas. A legitimate kind of topic for The_Think_Tank.

I really don't flag or report people except for death threats -- even stuff that is a blatant violation of ImgFlip TOS.

This entire stream is arguably a violation of ImgFlip TOS, but it's whatever. I contributed my own content referencing actual things people have gotten mad at Kylie about and some silly agitprop-style Kylie artwork that I stumbled across last night.

I didn't create that stream but hey if someone doesn't like kylie its a free country right? Freedom of speech! Lol. You having Sydney racist is laughable. But I'm sure its no chip off his shoulder. He actually told me he liked you but not sure now. Hey if it makes you happy I'll post a bikini pic in the tank just to prove no one there is misogynistic. And are you going to comment on the feminism meme since you claim to be such a champion of women's right to strut around half naked? Lol

Short answer: Third wave feminism is controversial and sometimes does take things overboard, but the foundation of our society is pretty solidly first and second-wave feminist on most issues. If we weren't we'd be Saudi Arabia and some of these other places. See: burqa.

Please do post a bikini in the Tank to symbolically inaugurate a new set of more permissive rules regarding female dress, but I'll withhold judgment on whether there is no misogyny until I stop hearing words like "s**t" and "w**re" being bandied about particularly in relation to girls who are not even sex workers.

The burka was a bit extreme. And I'm not sure what point you were trying to prove or if it was even proved. But why are you personally as a man so offended by the fact people in that stream want to keep it SFW. Is that such a crime against humanity? I really want to know. If you're really up to discussing it why not put your two cents in some of the posts there that discuss topics like women's rights? Or post a meme that's a genuine question and not just a protest?

There was some discussion on a politics meme that featured good heaping doses of s**t-shaming and misogyny that inspired that particular question. It was not truly an out-of-the-blue attack on The_Think_Tank, although it may have felt that way. I perhaps should have provided the context, but some folks mad at me for importing discussions from one thread into another, so I didn't.

Some of the replies to that meme as well as the creation of this hateful new Kylie stream I think shows these anti-woman attitudes do still exist, or at least people are not uncomfortable dabbling in them in an attempt to trigger another memer.

And as far as keeping The_Think_Tank SFW: Isn't that what the SFW/NSFW button is for?

And honestly, I do think half of the politics stream is filled with rancid/hateful/fact-free/conspiratorial content that is likely to be far more damaging to young minds than a little female flesh, so sexy women are a very low-level ImgFlip concern in my book compared to other stuff I see.

The concern is not precisely bikinis vs. fully-clothed women, but rather the fixation upon a code of female dress and a blind eye turned toward the corrosive effect of outright hostile attitudes.

And what are some of those attitudes? Well: I talk about them in the SexStream description and specifically prohibit them.

That's why I've stopped following them... It annoyed me too much. I'm glad this stream is different and at least some people can still have constructive discussions. 😘

I wasn't aware you followed and sorry if it doesn't have more risque content to your liking. Guess I like a place where people can have intelligent discussions that don't involve boobs and genitals. Heaven knows there's more than enough streams that dwell below the belt and don't stray much higher than that. What exactly was the straw that broke your back. I don't ever recall you posting there.

Well, it's not about risque content. I do enjoy intelligent discussions but the last time I was there it felt more like people just stating their opinion and that's it. I didn't post there but I visited from time to time and commented on some memes there but I didn't really feel welcome. Or rather I didn't feel like my opinion was welcome there. Maybe that was just me though.
The other thing I didn't like was people posting random questions that had nothing to do with starting a discussion (along the lines of "what did you have for lunch?" or "where are you from?"). But I read somewhere that you changed the stream description to prevent those so maybe I might give it another shot.

Please do come back. I'm sorry if you didn't feel welcome. The entire point of the stream is for people to give opinions.
