I live in a passive solar house (no fans, etc necessary to heat the house). I am not tied into any electrical sources, gas pipelines or other "public utilities," hence "off the grid." I provide all of the resources I need with so called "renewable resources" unless the sun don't shine and the wind don't blow no mo.
