With the exception of Medicare and Medicaid, healthcare is still run by insurance the industry. That fact was the only way ObamaCare would pass. Govt. runs subsidies, not health care. Insurance for retired seniors on Social Security is paid for by the Medicare trust. Medicaid is a health insurance block grant program to the states that ensures public hospitals don't collapse providing care for indigent patients - which public hospitals are required to do by law. Private hospitals do not have to provide medical care other than to stabilize the patient and transport them to a community hospital.
