”At least since Joseph Smith tried to shoot his way out of a treason conviction in Illinois. The local newspapers paint a much different picture of Joseph Smith than the church does. He tried to shoot his way out of the jail using a pepperbox smuggled to him by Cyrus Wheelock., and managed only to get himself and his brother killed.”
‘The four men had two firearms among them, left behind by friends: a single-shot pistol Joseph had passed to Hyrum and a six-shot pistol, called a pepperbox, which the Prophet retained. They also had two walking canes: a large hickory stick called a “rascal-beater” and a smaller walking cane.’

“Funny how the church fails to mention that Joseph Smith killed two men that night”
’The Prophet then stood, and with a firm step he went to the door, pulled the pepperbox from his pocket, and, reaching around the door casing, fired blindly into the hallway. He snapped all six shots. Half discharged, striking three men.’ -LDS.org
“My favorite part of the Joseph Smith story is the Anti-Bank - he stole all of that money....”

“Two embezzlers, a child molester, and at least a dozen thieves - who were Mormons. Two of those thieves - were missionaries.”
I won’t deny that people in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints have chosen the wrong path and have done bad things. It was their choice, and they chose poorly.
“And it came to pass as they [Laman and Lemuel] smote us [Nephi and Sam] with a rod, behold, an angel of the Lord came and stood before them, and he spake unto them, saying: Why do ye smite your younger brother with a rod? Know ye not that the Lord hath chosen him to be a ruler over you, and this because of your iniquities? Behold ye shall go up to Jerusalem again, and the Lord will deliver Laban into your hands.
And after the angel had spoken unto us, he departed.
And after the angel had departed, Laman and Lemuel again began to murmur, saying: How is it possible that the Lord will deliver Laban into our hands? Behold, he is a mighty man, and he can command fifty, yea, even he can slay fifty; then why not us?” 1 Nephi 3: 29-31
Even after seeing an angel from God, Laman and Lemuel still had hard hearts and murmured. They seemed to completely forget that an angel had just visited them. Just like us today. Satan is trying his hardest to stray us from the path. Some follow and some don’t. God still loves us.
