Socialist America

#America is not #socialist? Maybe it is. Most voters live in socialism: #Medicare. The majority must struggle but the voters have it. They don't demand #ClimateAction but they can benefit of some action. Riding #bike (or trike) is perfect in old age. #GoRevolution

At least we don't have an emperor.

Mind you, some emperors were good. Socialism can be equally good or bad. The words are often used to confuse.

Not really. The only system that works is a system that pits the greed of man against each other so that they check and balance the others. As in a 3 branch republic government such as we have.

China and Russia have a quality of life by now that could be the envy of America, or so I hear. The greedy among us are doing great playing construction, destruction, corruption. Our sidewalks are falling apart and the parks are occupied by the homeless. Our roads are left to total anarchy.

According to the Quality of Life Index - America is #44, China is #55, and Russia is #50.

I use a simple yet effective definition to measure quality of life. We need clean and green communities and we need people out and about. The American sprawl is the classic model to maximize the profits not the convenience. People live isolated and insulated.

Leave the city. I live in the country on enough land that I qualify for agricultural tax exemption, I raise livestock, I garden. Leaving the city was the best thing I ever did. When I was young, that's where I wanted to be - and as I got older, I realized how toxic it was. I hate being in the city now. Out in the country, people take care of the environment - because that's where they live, that's where their cattle graze, it's where they hunt and fish.

China is way worse. During the olympics, they kept several industries shut down so the pollution wouldn't cloud the skies above the events. China is far from green.

After landing in a green paradise (the boondocks) and spending a couple of months there I learned it was absolutely depressing because there's nothing to do. That's Woodbourne in upstate NY. A huge federal prison towers over the landscape, bringing money, but it doesn't translate into any kind of improvement in the little hamlet, not even passable sidewalks or hiking trails. Miami is very low in my scale because the corruption makes it completely dysfunctional, most prominent is traffic, infrastructure and parks. Nobody is out. I believe NYC is a better city where people are out and about. Living in a cage is not an option for dogs or myself. Moscow rates high in quality of life, most prominently having tamed traffic and creating quality parks. They always had the best metro in the world. And you see the city is absolutely clean. I don't know of any American city like that. People who can afford it, move to a gated community.

You should move to Moscow then.
