Thanks, and you make a good point. I do have reasons for the religion point.
China is the least religious/most irreligious and atheistic country in the world (not counting the debatable circumstances around North Korea). With 40% - 70% of the population being irreligious, it has the largest non-religious population of any country by both percentage and number of people. The government also allows no state religion while espousing atheism (on paper at least, because communism), criminalizes public evangelism plus non-private religious activities and gatherings (deporting foreign evangelists and incarcerating - or worse - local ones) while even restricting their brand of Buddhism, Taoism and Chinese folk religions. In light of this, also in conjunction with my personal beliefs, I also consider China living proof that the "people/society would be better off without religion" argument is wrong. That is why I added the point.
