Well-meaning folks can believe so because they forget the Context, Counterfeits, Corruption of Man, Atonement of Christ, Common Sense, or the Clear Passages in Scripture. That last one involves Bible verses that prove a true Christian cannot lose their salvation. This is why the gospel is called the good news and is a gift. Gifts can't be ungiven. We are not saved on the basis of our works but instead by the performance of Jesus Christ. Once born-again, we have Eternal Security!
